Radio Silence

This radio silence was brought to you compliments of the holidays and my overwhelming laziness. I do hope that your solstice and new year celebrations were most excellent, and I wish for us all that 2009 bring peace and prosperity.

My vacation had ups (sleeping in most every day) and downs (watching my lovely wife slip and fall in a puddle of vomit at 2am), but mostly it was positive. The wii was a big hit this year, I bought Wii Fit for my wife (and the rest of us too) it is really fun AND you get some real exercise from it, although having it call you obese every day is a bit much. My “wii fit age” (something it calculates as your approximate health age) has bounced about from 58, to 32, to 42, so I’m not really sure what to make from that. Also for the wii I got Guitar Hero World Tour (With the drums and Microphone) from my MIL, I will need to practice! Each of the girls got wii games too, so in the cold of winter we will have lots to do.

Now that the holidays are over and we are back to work, we are on a lifestyle reduction plan. We are trying to reduce our debt, our clutter, and our weight. Last night Heather went through our closet and removed all the crap from the floor, and buddy there was a LOT of crap. We sorted through all of it and all the tee shirts and have a huge pile for the Good Will, and bonus we have space in the closet AND you can still see the floor. I may build some shelves to complete the project, we’ll see.

On the debt and weight reduction side, we are not going to be eating out as much, and we will be continuing our regular visits to the gym. More to the point *I* will be continuing my regular visits to the gym, Heather already exercises regularly. She asked me to do the “Couch to 5K” so that I can start running. I hate running, but I love my wife more, so I will be starting that some time. I will also go back to watching more of what I eat. Part of my eating problem stems from my mood, when I am down I don’t care what I eat and will eat to feel better. I was also chatting with my little sis not too long ago and we concluded that we three sibs have the same pathology when it comes to food (and shopping for clothes apparently). When we eat, we tend to order a lot because we don’t want to miss out on anything. I’m not sure why that is, but growing up we were poor and didn’t eat out save for a rare occasion. As for shopping we all seem to find something we like then buy it in different colors. It was not until this chat that we discovered that we three exhibit these same behaviors. Spooky huh?!?

I had lots of moments over the past week where I thought “Ooo this could be funny to blog about.” but by laziness got the better of me.

Here is to a fantastic 2009!

HMS Friday +

Posted on September 4th, 2008 in Daily, drama, HMS Friday, housekeeping, Random thoughts by g-man || 7 Comments

I know that I bitch often about being busy, but this last week was especially so. The weekend I covered two posts ago.

Tuesday was spent with work and fiddling about with my class which was opened online Monday so us early birds can get a jump start.

Wednesday was work, soccer practice, dinner to celebrate Booba’s 5th, church to sign the paychecks for the custodians, then home to complete the budget for the board that runs our church building.

Thursday (today as I am writing this early) I went to the dump at 8 then to our backup control center to run a test. My banana survived the trip from the coffee place though!
ZGI_1245.JPG
After the test then it is off to my office where I had to give a presentation, then home to finish cleaning up the garage. It was too dark to get a good picture, but I managed to have both cars in it tonight!! Woo Hoo!!

Friday I start at my office then off to the backup control center for another test. Now here is my day can go either way, after the test I can 1. go back to my regular office (which is further away from home) and finish up my day, or 2. Have an extended lunch and leave from the backup CC. We’ll see how it goes. I’m sure I can find enough stuff to do to keep my busy …

All that brings me to the Hot Monkey Sex Friday topic …

Finishing the garage, or having an extra long lunch and leaving work closer to home on a Friday are certainly nice things. I have heard people say in similar situations that it “is better than sex.” I have been known to say that phrase but only in a sarcastic manner. From any point of view is there really anything more personally gratifying than sex? Happy HMS Friday.

Weekend review

Posted on September 2nd, 2008 in drama, exercise, family, friends, funny, health, housekeeping, party, psudo-rant, Random thoughts, sleep (or the lack thereof) by g-man || 8 Comments

Labor day, as I understand it is the day to celebrate all your hard labor throughout the year, and not spending three days humping crap out of the garage, going to the dump, building a shed, going through all the crap from the garage, having a turkey dinner/birthday party, fixing an overflowing condensation drain on the AC unit, and all the regular family and weekend stuff. My lovely wife and I were in motion almost all of the time we were awake for the entire three days.

I hope that your weekend was more relaxing. I am glad to be back to work today so that I can rest. I do have one (maybe two) more trips to the dump and then I will be able to park my car in the garage too!

On the plus side, I now have possession of my telescope tripod again, and my cpap machine, which I have started using again. Maybe this time it will not be so annoying. One of my friends also uses a cpap machine and my wife asked me to talk to him to see if he had any tips. I asked him about it and he didn’t really have any tips, but did tell me that while wearing the mask you can blow a whistle for a really long time! I had to laugh at the image of him driving his wife nuts by having a whistle going for several minutes.

Needless to say my WWC entry is going to be late. In the meantime, what do you think of my new masthead?

Good thing

I was staying home with the sick Booba today. It was raining yesterday and last night causing this:DSC_4864.JPG

And this morning I we woke up to this:

It was originally a two hour delay, but they closed by 8:00. So I got both girlies today. We had a really nice day (Mostly). I got my coffee, got to play some video games and help decorate a valentines box, run the sweeper, go to skating. All in all a really nice day. I had grand hopes of catching up on my blog reading. (You all are so awesome and I feel like I am missing out when I get behind) but Metroid Prime was calling me.

In the end Booba is feeling better, and we are all ready to go to school tomorrow for the big V day.

Saturday = work day

Well the whole weekend was pretty busy. We had my lovely wife’s best friend and her husband come to stay with us from Ohio. They have been married for a short time but act like that grumpy aunt and uncle we all had growing up as kids. They are cute.

Saturday I was leading the clean up effort of the house our church owns. We are currently renting it since our pastor has her own house. I suppose that make me a de facto landlord since the house falls under my jurisdiction as chair of the trustees. I sent an e-mail to all the men folk of our congregation asking for power washers and ladders. I had an abundance of ladder offers, but the only power washer was mine. (Sigh)

So I loaded up headed out.

Fortunately the labor help that arrived was just who and what I needed. (Thank you God!) The one guy (TheEngineer) is probably the smartest person I know, and has common sense for days (an anomaly to be sure). He brought his tools and trailer and came ready to work. The other fella is a constant. He is always volunteering to help and is willing to work, and work he did. TheEngineer got on the roof and cleaned gutters and trimmed trees while the volunteer and I power washed the house, from this:

We actually only did three sides of the house because the tenants had already done the front themselves last year. The whole thing took just over 5 hours. Then it was back home and time to get ready for Princess Drama Queen’s soccer game # 3. When I got home Booba told me that she got a Webkinz, and showed me this,

Booba- “Look daddy I got a webkin”

Me- “So What’s it name? Pube?”

Lovely wife- “Scott!!!”

Booba- “No, Blackie.”

Me …

Then it was off to the game. PDQ is getting much better.

Then home to watch the Ohio State game. Not the “Ohio state Ass whoopin'” I had hoped for but they won.

Today I could not remember jack shit!

I had to stop pulling out of the garage twice. I forgot my sunglasses, then I forgot the Sunday School supplies (seeing as I was teaching it seemed important not to forget that stuff). I stopped to get coffee and on my way out I remembered that I wanted to get Esmerelda a chai latte since today is special for her and we were teaching together. I would have gone back and got her one but from the time I got mine to the time I left the door seven people walked in. (Sorry again Es.)

When I got to church I realized that I forgot to bring in a receipt to the treasurer, then I forgot to make copies of the Sunday school stuff before class. (I’m sure I’m forgetting something else) After church and lunch out we said good-bye to the friends, and H went to the gym, and I ran the vacuum under our bed to get all the dust out, maybe it will help me sleep. Then I fixed a dresser drawer, and now I am F’n pooped. I am not going to do anything else after typing this, probably.

To top it all off I feel like shit, coughing and achy.

Aside: as of PDQ’s game I have shot twenty thousand photos with my D70.
