A place to hang my shit.

Drinking excessively

It seems as though I forgot the warning about my medication of no excessive drinking. It came back to bite me in the ass on Saturday. Friday night we went to a happy hour at a neighbors, my lovely wife made sangria, it was really good. I had about 10 glasses. I might have been drunk. I woke up the next morning in need of some Motrin!. Once that started working we went to breakfast at our local coffee place, and the afore mentioned lovely wife went on an overnight shopping trip to VA with Builder Mama.

It hit me at the 12:30 soccer game where Princess Drama Queen was actually participating and doing well and not complaining that she wants to go home and never play soccer again. After half time I realized that I was feeling queazy. By the time the game was over I wanted to lean over the fence and barf, it was an interesting drive home.

I felt better after laying down for a while, and decided to take some Pepcid. That was a big mistake, as soon as it hit my gut, everything came back. I did feel better afterwards though, so I decided to do some lawn work. Big mistake #2. I immediately felt awful again. I relaxed for a while and felt better, well enough to finish the lawn, or so I thought. Half way through mowing my neighbor wanted to introduce me to his friend. As we were chatting on the street I was feeling nauseous. Fortunately it was getting late and I was losing daylight, so I excused myself, started the mower went behind the bush on the side yard and yacked what little was left in my stomach. I finished the yard though dammit.

Sunday I continued to feel like crap all the way through church. Joy. I had some Shrek Chicken Noodle soup, cause yanno, that’s what we had. for lunch and I felt somewhat better. I spent the rest of the evening resting and trying to keep hydrated.

I hope your weekend was better.

ZGI_8995.JPGSo Saturday was supposed to be the surprise party for my lovely wife. I had three of the best people planning the party details, while I was in charge of getting the booze. We had the party at a friends house, and had a margarita/Mexican theme.
Heather expected that Esmerelda and I were up to something but she didn’t know what. Well that was true up to Friday evening. While we were at pot-luck dinner when one of the other kids from church told Heather that she was all excited about having a baby sitter so her parents could go to Heather’s birthday party. The poor kid was so upset at blowing the surprise. It took some soft words and hugs to convince her that she had done nothing wrong, and we moved on.

While the party surprise was shot, I still had some up my sleeve. I had invited Builder Mama and family, who came early and surprised Heather in the back yard. I had arranged that Monkey Man and my girls would all hang out and torture one sitter! The final surprise was H’s best friend growing up arriving. There were friends from church, and the neighborhood, and H’s crafty friends.
The food was great, and the cake awesome, the house and decorations fun and cheerful (including a piƱata filled with chocolate and booze). It was a huge success all thanks to the the women (and men) who contributed their time and talents to making the celebration of my wife’s 40th totally awesome.

Sunday we had breakfast with the the out-of-towners before they headed back to their respective states of origin. It was a little uncomfortable since our waitress was a woman who was recently laid off from the company my wife works for.

Then church, and afterwards a birthday party for the girls to attend. I wanted to take a nap during that party but I wound up retrieving the remainder of the booze, and getting the oil changed in the van, and getting a haircut.

All-in-all a fine weekend.

Happy Easter

I’m glad mine didn’t start with a hangover. It’s all Esmerelda’s fault! She called Saturday night looking for someone to come out and have a drink with. She spoke with my lovely wife who was not really into going out so she declined. My response was “Hey, what am I chopped liver?”

My love wife and Es made me change out of my sweatpants before going. I complied.

By the time I get there She was working on her second Jack and coke. I ordered a margarita on the rocks and a shot of Patron. Yum. And boy do they go down smooth. (I will refrain from making the same “going down” characterization as the vodka post)

Es and I had a great chat. It is not very often that I get her all to myself and we can chat frankly and openly about anything on our minds. We had a lot of good laughs, and she told me stuff that I could have gone life through without knowing. (I’m sure I returned that favor) We toasted our sexuality, and talked about the ups and downs in our relationships. We listened to the band (who the lead singer reminded me of AJ) and she threatened me with making me get up and dance.

She switched to drinking what I was, because really, it was just better. Well after a couple hours at the bar we left. She said that we had to go because the large breasted woman at the end of the bar was making me lose my train of thought repeatedly, well that, and she was drunk. Fortunately the bar is less than a mile from her house.

I saw her in, and as I was leaving her mom called out of her bedroom window asking me if I needed something. I sad no, I had just dropped Es off.

I went home and went to sleep. (After waking my lovely wife up and asking her a question, she was not happy) I slept on and off and was up for an hour or so between 3-4. My tummy was on fire from the nachos, and my head was starting to hurt. I took some Tums and drank some water and woke up feeling fine.

So Sunday, I am at church, and Es’ mom comes up to me and smacks me for getting her daughter all liquored up, and that she had to go back and “fix” the Easter baskets for the boys. I laughed.

Blackouts are bad.

grey_goose.gifOr at the very least self destructive. Saturday was spent standing out in the cold wind watching Princess Drama Queen play soccer. I dressed for the weather, she just wanted to wear shorts and her soccer jersey, so you can imagine how it was trying to get out of the house. She played so-so, mainly because I think she is done with soccer (again). Like last year she was all excited to start soccer, but during the very first practice she says “I hate soccer.”

So after soccer I fetched my sons from their mom’s house for a fun filled evening of wii and dinner out at Outback. Wii was played much as dinner time approached. That was when I discovered that the the cymbals fot the GH4 drum set had the wires ripped out of the sockets! WTF!?!!? Needless to say I am a bit pissed. I can probably fix it, but I’d really like to know how it happened (So I can beat the offending party prevent it from happening again)

We went over to Outback, and at 5:00 there was a 45 minute wait, so we went over to another steak/rib place. The beers were really good and went down smoother than my high school girlfriend after not seeing each other for a few days. I had three, Heather drove home.

That was when the real trouble started, I built a fire in the back yard and started making 24 oz Grey Goose and cranberry juice, which also went down easy. I recall making two of them, but the next morning I noticed that the bottle was empty, where it had been 2/3 full. Which explains why my sons were laughing at me the next morning, and I had no idea what they were talking about. I have vague recollections of some of what they were telling me, but absolutely no recall of others. So either they are giving me shit, or my brain was saturated.

Sunday morning I was happy to recall that I would not have to teach Sunday School, because really, that would have been horrible. I felt like shit all day, and even sneaked in a short nap, but that really didn’t help. I’m pretty sure that contributed to why I was awake last night between 2 and 5. Which brings me to today, Monday, so far it is not going well at all. Maybe I need more booze? :)

We have our hotel and air reservations for a trip to Vegas at the end of March. We arrive late on the 25th and leave the afternoon of the 28th and are staying at the Bellagio. My lovely wife got us a good deal on both the air fare and hotel. We are going down with Builder Mama and her hubby. (all the kids are staying home!)

While we are there we have the potential to hook up with a couple other blogger friends (Jaonsy and Terri) and maybe catch a show or two. The planning is being done by the women, so I guess I’ll find out more as the date gets closer.

I am looking forward to all the photo ops that will present themselves, I’m sure I could just walk around day and night and fill up several memory cards. I am also looking forward to hanging out and partying with friends. I’m sure it will be a hoot. Everyone else in our group has been to (or lives in) Vegas, except me. This will be my first trip. In fact, the 3 other people in my group at work have been there too, it seems like I am the last in line again…

I may even try my hand at some gambling. If the casino’s on the cruise ships are any indication, I will suck and lose my allotment right off the bat. My mom won 10 G’s one year, then blew it, I’m sure I wont have that kind of luck. (I’d pay off debt if I did win though :)

I’ll keep you posted.
