Not just Burrr but F’n Burrrrr!

Holy jumpin’ catfish Batman it was cold last night! It was the make up game for Princess Drama Queen’s soccer team. It was at 6:30 local time and quite dark. While the day was a touch chilly the lack of sun this evening was causing all the heat that had accumulated during the day to, well, vent into space. We brought blankets and coats and hats and we still froze. I’m guessing that we still need time to acclimate. (or we are just wussies)

We went here: (Our field is waaay in the back)

dsc_1720.JPG On the plus side PDQ scored her first goal ever!!!!! That feat (no pun intended) earned her a shiny new dollar. She was very excited. There were about 40 shots on the opposing team’s goal by our girls and 38 of them were near misses that either bounced off the pole, or hit the net from the outside corner or something. Their goalie got a real workout, and was not afraid to get kicked in the face by some of the saves she pulled off. It was amazing and frustrating to watch as each goal bounced off in the wrong direction off the pole or whatever. Sometimes they would actually get the rebound shot and miss a second time. Tough and exciting.

GEEK SPEAK: I had meant to change lenses during the game to see which one worked better, but it was too cold to fart around so I stuck with my 50mm f1.8 for the game. It was not enough to catch the motion without the aid of a flash (or setting the damned ISO to something faster than the 200), and my big flash was at home, so a lot of the pictures came out like this one. It was funny to watch PDQ stop and pose after her goal (alas on that one I moved). The bitch part was they looked fine on the LCD (enough light and not obviously blurry, or bleery as PDQ says). Had I really been thinking I might have switched to one of the program modes and let the camera figure all that stuff out. I guess I was just too cold to think.

Sack-A-Ja-Wee-A, right? My kid’s love those things. They lose their shine after a while though.

That camera talk is impressive. I have no clue what you were talking about. You must have meant Greek, not Geek. *L* I kid.

Thanks for coming to see my creepy doll!

Yeah, we suffer down here in the summer, but all winter long we’ll have some cold snaps and then it will be back to 65-70 degree highs and clear blue with no clouds in the sky. MY GOD! What a GLORIOUS DAY! Happy New Year!

    *chuckle*

It’s still over 80 degrees in the daytime in Las Vegas and not very cold at all at night. One of my kids went barefoot for trick-or-treating. Global warming is freaking me out.

My camera skills are limited to turning the flash off while shooting into glass – other than that I’m automatic all the way. But you sound like you know what you’re talking about.

    Congrats on the goal!

Really cold around my parts of the world as well. Frost already, and I damn near slipped and fell today. I hate the winter time (why I didn’t stay in Florida is a mystery to me).

Congrats on Princess’ first soccer goal!

  6. It was actually in the 40’s last night here…that rarely happens!

    How cute is PDQ!

By the way…when I find a cute picture of Junior Mayhem, I am DEFINITELY going to send it to you to steal photoshopping skillz! :)

Mackeydoodle- Yes, but we have dollar coins too.

BID- Yes. Greek geek whichever :) You’re welcome.

Gadfly- Yes well I guess that mean we should come and visit. Not that I mind winter much.

Joansy- I bet the desert is really prudy this time of year. I do give that impression don’t I. ;)

R.E.H.- I have had to scrape my car a couple times this week. I am originally from upstate NY, this is south for me :)

    Queen of the Mayhem- Word.

Terri- Thanks. Does this kind of weather make the summers worth the effort?

    Liz- Love ya, mean it.

Awesome! I love those little gold coins! My grandpa used to give me silver dollars when I was a kid. (Excuse me a moment while I dust myself off… I’m ancient!)
